Updated October 23, 2026

Mob is made of mobd, which runs on your office computer, and the Mob apps: Mob Desktop (macOS; Windows and Linux on the way) and Mob Mobile (iPhone, iPad and Android). It runs on your own computers and devices. We operate no server that receives your data. Mob is open source under the MIT License, so you can check all of this in the source code.

We collect no data

  • Mob contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs, and does not track you.
  • The apps connect only to the mobd addresses you add. Conversations, screenshots, files and the live view travel directly between your devices and your office computer.

Data on your devices

  • Pairing credentials are kept in the system's secure storage: the Keychain (macOS, iPhone, iPad), the Android Keystore, Windows Credential Manager or the Linux Secret Service.
  • Added computers, settings and a cache of recent conversations are stored in the app and removed when you uninstall it.
  • mobd keeps its settings and conversations on your office computer (~/.mobd, and ~/Library/Application Support/mob on macOS or ~/.local/share/mob on Linux, where each conversation's desktop files and browser profiles also live). You manage and delete them.

Third-party services

The agents you run in mobd, such as Codex, Claude Code or Pi, send task content to their model providers under your agreement with those providers. Network services such as Tailscale or Cloudflare apply their own privacy policies.

App permissions

  • Camera: only to scan the pairing QR code. No images are stored.
  • Local network: to reach mobd on your LAN.
  • Notifications: to tell you when the agent needs an answer or a task finishes.
  • Microphone: Mob does not record audio. The description comes from the WebRTC component used for the live view.
